Within this website, we have taken questions that we get asked at open days and by our new Year 8 students, and we have tried to answer as many of them as we can.
However, you might still have some questions!
If you do, please use the button below to send them to us - we will do our best to answer them on the site.
SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS
Question: How can you set up a coding club for year 8 to do things like scratch and photo shop?
The best way to find out if it is possible to set up a club is to speak to a teacher in a relevant subject - for coding, we would suggest asking either Mr Kemps or Mr Graham in ICT. They might be able to start one or could point you in the right direction - maybe some keen sixth formers might be willing to help as well!
Question - Can you set up a book club or is there already one? If so, when is it?
There isn't a book club at the moment, but it sounds like a great idea! You could speak to your English teacher or Mrs Beckett in the library and see if you could get one started - they would also be great for suggesting books that you could read and discuss!
Question: What is PD?
PD stands for Personal Development. It's a class that you have once a week with your form teacher. You might discuss things like health, friendships, or school issues like bullying. It's a chance to talk about some really important things and think about your own thoughts and feelings.
Question: Can A Year 8 join Eco-Club? When does it start?
Eco-Club would absolutely LOVE to have Year 8s on board! No news yet on when it starts, but you should get a list of clubs and their start dates / times through your form teacher, so you can go along to any that interest you!
Question: It says that schoolbags have to be plain - do they have to be black or can they be another colour?
You may have seen in your uniform rules that your schoolbag should be 'plain'. This means that it we don't want you bringing a bag that is overly patterned, but it can be any colour. Please also make sure it doesn't have any football emblems or anything that might cause offence.
Question: How do I set up a school email address?
This will be done for you by the ICT Technicians. Once you are given the details, you might want to change your password to something you will remember more easily. You can then access it from home by going on the Lagan College website and going to the "Student Zone"
