0Some pupils might come to Learning Support for a bit of extra help - we have pupils who come to us for support with handwriting, reading, spelling, maths, organisational skills and revision skills. Most of them come to us during Registration time in the mornings (9:10-9:20) to work with a classroom assistant. Some students might need more help with literacy or numeracy and so they might go to classes with one of the Learning Support teachers - Mrs Gibney, Mrs Gordon or Mrs Glass.
We also have a massive team of classroom assistants in Lagan College - you might have one or even more in your classes. They are another adult who can help you if you are having any issues or are finding the work difficult.
At the start of the year, you will do tests in English, Maths, reading and spelling. You shouldn't worry too much about these - they are for the Learning Support staff to see what level you are working at and so decide if you might need any extra help. We also do them again at the end of Year 8 so that we can see how much you have improved!
