Timetable for the week

The pictures above give you examples of two Year 8 students' timetables. When you get given yours, it will not look like this - it will just be on a white sheet with no colour. We recommend that you add different colours for each subject, and then add a strip of colour to the top of each of your books to match - that way, finding your books for each subject will be much easier!

On these timetables, there are two codes underneath the name of each subject. The first of these codes tells you which teacher you have (we use codes on the timetable because there isn't enough space for full names), and the second one tells you what room your class is in.

You will see that these two timetables are slightly different - one has a subject called 'Key Skills', but the other one has an extra period of Irish and no Key Skills. This is because you are put in classes which we feel best suit your level and go through the work at a speed which works for you. Some classes might need a bit of extra time for English and Maths to make sure you really get the hang of what you are learning in these classes - this is what Key Skills means. Others might not need as much help with these subjects, so they have extra Irish classes instead.

The school day

Picture
At 9:10am I will go to Registration at my form class or Assembly with my year group.
(Wondering what a form class is? Click on the button below)
Form class
I will go to my first class at 9:25am. The slots of time for each class are called periods - each period lasts for 40 minutes (apart from Periods 6 and 7 which are each 35 minutes). Sometimes I might have two periods of the same class next to each other on my timetable - this is called a double period.

There are two periods before break from 10:45-11:00, and then 3 more periods before lunch from 1:00-1:35. All junior school students (Years 8-10) have lunch during Period 6, and all senior students (Years 11-14) have lunch during Period 7.

There are different options for what I can do during break and lunchtime - find out more about these by clicking on this button.
Break and lunchtimes
There are 9 periods in total in the school day. However, this does not mean that you will have 9 different classes - remember, one of these periods (Period 6) is your lunch, and you might have double periods of some subjects during the day. School finishes at 3:30pm.

However, there are some clubs which you might want to attend after school - you can find out more about these by going to the link below.
